Born 1958. Played double bass since 1984. Inspired by the meeting with Glen Moore in the late 1980's, Achim Tang started to experiment with different tunings on the double bass. In the following years he developed an asymetric tuning, mixing fifths and fourths which strongly influences his style of playing. After moving to Vienna in 1993 he quickly becomes one of Austria's most wanted bass Member of the musicians label WINDHUNDRECORDS.COM „Achim Tang is one of the players, for whom stylistic borders simply don't exist“ writes Renald Deppe on the occasion of a concert at the Festspielhaus St. Poelten in 1996. This openness along with his strong, personal sound is a mayor part of Achim Tangs music. Over the years Achim Tang played - and still plays - with many of the leading improvisers in contemporary music today, such as Marc Ducret, Stoyan Yankulov, Wolfgang Puschnig, Joachim Kühn, Linda Sharrock, Patrice Heral, Guy Klusevcek, Anatoly Vapirov, Jay Clayton, Deepak Ram, Max Nagl, Dominik Piffarelly, David Tronzo and many others. He performed on many of the big Festivals in France, Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland. Compositions: Selected Discographie: |
